Dear Readers,
We are glad to deliver the 95th issue of bilig to you. In this issue, we make available to you 10 original articles that reflect the accumulation of the Turkic world in different fields of social sciences, from literature to philosophy, history to archeology, from economics to international relations. Considering the richness of the subjects as well as the variety of authors, it is seen that bilig is a publication that meets the claim of being a social sciences journal of the Turkic world.
While preparing this issue, instead of publishing a great number of articles, attention has been paid to selecting a small number of articles of high quality. In order to increase the quality and the impact power of bilig, which started to be published in 1996 and scanned in SSCI since 2008, the articles are emphasized on quality rather than quantity. Our university is named after Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, one of the pioneers of the Turkish renaissance and also is the symbol of the friendship between Turkey and Kazakhstan and bilig is also an important tool for our university to be recognized. Thus, it makes it mandatory to improve the position of our journal.
As it is known, Ahmet Yesevi University the Board of Trustees of which is located in Ankara, main campus of it is in Turkistan, Kazakhstan. Declared as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, Turkistan was transformed into a state center in 2018. In Turkestan, where new buildings are built feverishly and turned into a construction site, the international airport and many culture-arts complexes have already been opened. Nursultan Nazarbeyev, who has given great importance to the development and improvement of Turkestan since the independence of Kazakhstan, is the architect of modern Turkestan. As Nazarbayev stated, the establishment of the International Turkish-Kazakh University named after the Saint Sultan in 1992 was a turning point during the restructuring process in Turkestan.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as president, started his first visit to Kazakhstan in 2015 from Turkestan and received the title of honorary professor of Ahmet Yesevi University. In his speech at Ahmet Yesevi University, President Erdoğan emphasized that the university should not remain as any higher education institution due to both its name and its geography. In line with this ideal, Ahmet Yesevi University has served as the locomotive in the transformation of Turkestan with its physical infrastructure, qualified and pioneering education staff, graduate students, education programs integrated with society, extrovert and competitive management approach.
Ahmet Yesevi University has formed the basis for restructuring in Turkestan with its education-training-research activities for more than a quarter of a century. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Muhittin Şimşek, stated that the university will fulfill its responsibilities in the coming period, considering the accelerated infrastructure and development move in the past three years, and thus it will progress towards becoming the most modern university in Kazakhstan regarding its physical and technological infrastructure. The most powerful scientific platform of the Turkic world in the field of social sciences, bilig will continue to contribute to these sacred efforts as a member of the Yesevi family.
Turkestan is growing with Ahmet Yesevi University; Ahmet Yesevi University is growing with Turkestan. I wish our new issue would be beneficial to all our readers and writers who are excited about these developments.
Best Regards,
Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş
